The beach in East Looe sits directly in front of the town, with the famous Banjo Pier running along its westerly edge and overlooked from the east by the hillside of Mount Ararat. Looe beach is good as a family beach, has something for everyone and it can be just the spot to chill after checking out the shops in Looe.
When the tide is out there is a large gently sloping sandy beach which is reasonably safe for swimming. The beach backs on to the seafront promenade which runs the length of the beach all the way to ‘Second Beach’ which is just to the east. The rocky sand beach here is usually quieter and ideal to relax and enjoy your surroundings.
Being situated close to Looe town means you have plenty of facilities to hand if you want something other than sitting on the beach all day. On the other side of the Banjo Pier is the Looe River and the harbour, great for crabbing, or getting yourself a fishing or sightseeing trip!
